1,4-Diisopropylbenzene is used as an intermediate for the synthesis of stabilizers, polymers, synthetic lubricants and hydroperoxides. It is also used in the trivalent actinide-lanthanide separation by phosphorus reagent extraction from aqueous komplexes (TALSPEAK) process for separating trivalent lanthanides from trivalent actinide cations. It finds application in nuclear fuel reprocessing.

Aplicaciones
El 1,4-diisopropilbenceno se utiliza como intermediario para la síntesis de estabilizadores, polímeros, lubricantes sintéticos e hidroperóxidos. También se utiliza en el proceso de separación de actínidos y lantánidos trivalentes mediante la extracción de reactivos de fósforo a partir de complejos acuosos (TALSPEAK, por sus siglas en inglés) para separar los cationes lantánidos trivalentes de los cationes actínidos trivalentes. Se aplica en el reprocesado de combustible nuclear.

Solubilidad
Soluble en alcohol, éter, acetona y benceno. Insoluble en agua.

Incompatible con agentes oxidantes y agentes oxidantes fuertes.
