Solvent for ninhydrin color reagent2-Methoxy ethanol is used as a solvent for various purposes like varnishes, dyes, cleaning agents, epoxy coating, paints, anti-icing fuel additive in aviation and resins. It is involved in the preparation of Vaska’s complex viz. trans-chlorocarbonylbis(triphenylphosphine)iridium(I) and ruthenium hydridechlorocarbonyl tristriphenylphosphine. Further, it is also used in the synthesis of 2-aminothiazoles and Rho-associated kinase inhibitors.

Participa en la preparación del complejo de Vaska, a saber, el transclorocarbonilbis(trifenilfosfina)iridio(I) y el rutenio hidruroclorocarbonil tristrifenilfosfina. Además, también se utiliza en la síntesis de 2-aminotiazoles e inhibidores de Rho quinasa.
Solubilidad
Miscible con agua, alcohol, éter, acetona, hidrocarburos, cetonas, glicoles y dimetilformamida.
Notas
Incompatible con bases fuertes, agentes oxidantes fuertes, ácidos, bases, aleaciones de cobre y cobre.
