It is also useful as an intermediate to make antioxidants, flame retardants, stabilizers, catalysts, photoinitiators and optical brighteners. It is also used to produce diphenylphosphinous acid methyl esters. It is used as a precursor in the preparation of various phosphines. It is involved in the preparation of phosphines, which is used as stabilizers for plastics, flame retardants and UV-hardening paint systems.
