Mouse anti Human C3d antibody, clone 053A-1149.3.1.4 recognizes human complement component 3d (C3d), a approximately 33 kDa polypeptide fragment generated over the course of complement activation where complement 3 (C3) convertases cleave C3 to C3b, which is further degraded into iC3b and C3dg/C3d.
C3 is a key component of the complement system since classical and alternative activation pathways merge at the C3 activation step when C3 is split into C3a and C3b. The molecular mass of C3 is 185 kDa and it consists of two chains (110 kDa and 75 kDa) held together by disulfide bonds.
