Descripción

Diethylene glycol dimethyl ether is used as a solvent in organic reactions due to its stability towards higher pH and its high boiling point. It is particularly involved in reactions utilizing organometallic reagents such as Grignard reactions and metal hydride reductions. It is also a solvent for hydroboration reactions with diborane.

Aplicaciones
El dietilenglicol dimetil éter se utiliza como disolvente en reacciones orgánicas debido a su estabilidad hacia un pH más alto y su elevado punto de ebullición. Participa especialmente en reacciones que utilizan reactivos organometálicos como reacciones de Grignard y reducciones de hidruros metálicos. También es un disolvente para reacciones de hidroboración con diborano.

Solubilidad
Miscible con agua, etanol, acetona, ácido acético, glicerina, piridina y aldehídos. Ligeramente miscible con éter.

Notas
Higroscópico. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
